Richard H. Carter

(1839-1911)



Richard Harry Carter was born in Truro in Cornwall in 1839. He was very much a Cornish artist, painting mainly Cornish coastal scenes and landscapes, and was a member of the Newlyn Art Colony. He exhibited at The Royal Academy between 1871 and 1908 as well as at The Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street (SS), The National Watercolour Society (NWS) and The Grafton Gallery (GG) He was a full member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (RI). He died at Sennen, Cornwall on the 7th February 1911.
