Convex Glass

(Sometimes called curved glass, bubble glass or domed glass.)

True convex glass rises up in the center, and the entire edge contacts the flat surface of whatever it is sitting on with the convex side up.  Curved or bent glass contacts the edges on the sides, but not on the ends.  It is usually found on sides or doors of china cabinets.  Bubble glass is technically an incorrect term for convex glass, and means that the glass has gas bubbles in the glass that are often long and pointed on the ends from the manufacturing process called drawn glass used many years ago.  These elongated bubbles are often called "seeds."  Domed glass is usually used for clocks or dolls, etc, and is much taller in the center than our typical convex glass.  We no longer do custom convex glass.  Convex and curved glass are measured differently.  Convex glass is measured straight across the opening; curved glass is measured around the outside of the curved side.  Almost any piece can be made with the proper dimensions given, and some can even be repaired if the cost of a new one is too much for your budget.  While they still show a line from the crack, they will be functional.
